OK but can we talk about how Kohler is having a total moment right now? They've been digging into their archives and reissuing greens, pinks, yellows, and more for their bathtubs, sinks, and toilets. The eye-catching moves just keep coming with their latest collab—artist-designer Dr. Samuel Ross and his industrial design studio SR_A. And yes, you're seeing that right: it's bright orange.
Formation 02 is a limited-edition version of the Eir smart toilet, and it's the second drop in Ross's Formation line with the brand (the first was an architectural faucet made from a fresh composite called Neolast). That electric hue? It's inspired by Tiger Lily, a color Kohler first introduced way back in 1967—and it's basically the designer's signature.
I'm honestly obsessed with the shape of this thing—brutalist vibes that nod to the velocity and power of water. Special molding and tooling techniques create a base with dramatic angles and texture, almost like cliffs carved out by water over time. Paired with that orange? Trust me on this—it would be an absolute showstopper in an all-white powder room, a funky pool house, or a maximalist main bath. (And no, this isn't our first orange toilet obsession—have you seen the tangerine surprise in this Paris apartment?)
And yes, it's still packing all the Eir's bells and whistles: heated seat, customizable cleansing, nightlight, hands-free opening and closing, automatic flush, and a touch-screen remote. "Formation 02 combines our industrial expertise and technological prowess with our strong belief in the power of creativity to challenge and drive forward progress," says Scott Edmunds, VP of Kohler Marketing. It's debuting at Milan Design Week and drops on sra.kohler.com April 16. I mean, who said shower tile gets to have all the fun?
